Every order. On video. Dispute-proof.
If you sell on TikTok Shop Malaysia, your September settlement will look different from August, the reason is the new TikTok Shop shipping fee SST. Starting this month, a 6% Service Tax (SST) applies to seller shipping fees. For orders created between 1 and 6 September, TikTok Shop covers the tax. For orders created from 7 September onwards, that cost moves to you, the seller. The shift is small in ringgit terms per parcel, but it lands in a year when sellers are already watching every sen of margin.
What the TikTok Shop shipping fee SST changes
The 6% Service Tax is applied to the shipping fee you pay as a seller on TikTok Shop Malaysia. It is not a new platform commission and it is not something the platform is keeping, it is a tax passed through the supply chain, and from 7 September 2026 the seller bears it on orders created from that date. The same tax also applies to forward and return shipping fees on unsuccessful orders, which matters more than it sounds: failed deliveries and returns now carry an extra cost on both legs.
There is a second administrative change riding along with it. The logistics entity for TikTok Shop Malaysia is shifting from Tokgistics Pte Ltd to TikTok Shop (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, which means invoicing and settlement details are being re-issued under the new entity. If your numbers look slightly different, that reorganisation is part of the reason. Settlement structures do change, so check the latest breakdown in your Seller Centre rather than relying only on summaries, the practical detail of exactly where the SST line appears can vary by order type.
What 6% actually costs per order
A percentage is easy to ignore until it becomes ringgit. Here is the honest arithmetic, using a plain example: on a shipping fee of RM8, 6% SST is RM0.48 per order. On RM6, it is RM0.36. Those are not catastrophic numbers on their own, the point is that they stack on top of every other cost a seller already carries, and they apply whether the order succeeds or fails.
Sellers in Malaysian marketplace communities have been talking about exactly this kind of squeeze for months: platform fees, shipping promotions, return handling, and now tax on shipping itself. When per-order costs creep up, the margin on each sale gets thinner, and thin margins change the maths of what you can afford to lose.
Why thin margins make disputes more expensive
Here is the part that does not show up on a settlement statement. When your margin per order is thin, a single dispute that goes against you stops being “one order lost”. A refund on one item, the goods, the shipping, the platform fees you do not get back, can wipe out the combined profit of many successful orders. Marketplace communities across Malaysia report the same dispute patterns again and again: the buyer says the parcel arrived empty (barang sampai kosong), the buyer says the parcel was swapped, the buyer says the item never arrived. Each one is a dispute about facts, what was inside that specific parcel at the moment it left your hands.
No tax change causes those disputes. But a cost squeeze changes how much each lost dispute hurts, which is why sellers who are tightening their operations are also tightening their evidence habit at the same time.
Evidence that does not add minutes to packing
The challenge with packing evidence has never been that sellers do not want it. It is consistency, recording every order by hand is the first thing that drops on a busy day, and the dispute you lose is usually the one order you skipped. Sellers who treat evidence as an operating routine use a hands-free flow instead: scan the AWB barcode and recording starts automatically, a UTC timestamp is burned into every frame, and a thumbs-up stops the clip when the parcel is sealed. The video syncs to your own cloud storage so the record stays in your control, and an evidence link is sent to the buyer on WhatsApp before the parcel ships, dated, and sitting in the chat from day one if a claim ever shows up later.
That habit does not care which platform you sell on or which logistics entity invoices you. It works the same on TikTok Shop as on Shopee, Lazada, or your own store, and it answers the only question a dispute reviewer actually asks: what was in this parcel, in what condition, at what time, before it left you.
Protecting margin on both sides of the ledger
September’s changes are mostly outside your control, the tax rate, the logistics entity, the platform’s invoicing. What stays inside your control is the cost of being wrong in a dispute. Packory is the evidence layer for that: from RM12.99 a month for 75 verified videos, which works out to roughly RM0.13 per video on the Verified plan for proof across every parcel, less than half of the RM0.48 SST on that RM8 shipping example, and it covers the disputes that tax changes and fee automation do not touch.
Check your settlement, understand the new line items, and keep your packing record automatic. Costs go up; your proof does not have to be one of them.
