Lazada commission fees in Malaysia changed on 14 August 2026, and the new rate card is wider than most sellers expect. General merchandise now runs from 18.5% to 22%, fashion from 18.5% to 20%, and digital goods sits at 25.5%. Every one of those numbers comes with an asterisk, and the asterisk is where sellers lose money.
This guide uses Lazada’s own published rate card, taken from the public Lazada Seller Help Center, articles updated 11 September 2026. No third party blog, no guesswork.
Lazada commission fee table, effective 14 August 2026
These are the official Marketplace rates for all sellers. The card states the rate is subject to 8% SST and is all inclusive, meaning campaign voucher, basic LazCoins and free shipping are already inside the number.
| Category cluster | Before 14 Aug 2026 | From 14 Aug 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| General Merchandise | 15.5% to 19% | 18.5% to 22% |
| FMCG | 0% to 19.5% | 0% to 22.5% |
| Fashion | 16% to 17% | 18.5% to 20% |
| Electronics | 12.5% to 18.5% | 15% to 21.5% |
| Digital Goods | 22.5% | 25.5% |
If you sell on a LazMall storefront, the rates sit higher again, from 23% to 27% for general merchandise and 11% to 27% for FMCG.
Notice that these are ranges, not single numbers. Lazada’s own card says category specific rates live in Seller Center, under Seller Settings then Commission. Anyone who tells you “Lazada takes 22%” is quoting the top of one range and calling it the whole story.
The rules that decide what you actually pay
The rate is only half the calculation. The published rules matter just as much:
- The 8% SST is not new. It took effect on 1 March 2024. The August 2026 change is the rate card itself, so do not merge the two into one “new tax” story.
- Commission is calculated on item price minus your own promotional discount. Lazada funded promotions and campaign offers are not deducted first. Your discount lowers the base, theirs does not.
- Orders are charged by order date. An order placed before 14 August 2026 keeps the old rate even if it ships later. New rates apply to orders placed on or after that date.
- Failed delivery means no commission. Commission is charged on successfully delivered orders only, and it is refunded if the order comes back. For a partial return, the refund follows the returned item.
- New sellers get 120 days waived. Commission starts on day 121, and the waiver applies to your first store only. From 13 January 2027, additional stores are no longer eligible.
- There is no platform support fee and no campaign voucher fee to join campaigns. Those are listed as included, not separate lines.
Why a single commission number is dangerous
Sellers price from one number and then wonder why the margin disappears. A 19% commission on paper can behave like 22% on a product that already carries your own discount, and it behaves like 0% on the order that failed to deliver, only to come back again when the return is processed.
That is the reason a fee calculator has to sit on top of your real cost, not on the shelf price. Item cost, shipping you absorb, packaging, return rate, and your own discount all change the answer before commission is even applied.
The Lazada tab of our free fee and profit calculator is built the same way. You enter your own commission percentage from Seller Center, because the honest answer is that your rate is yours, not a default we invented.
How to check your own rate in two minutes
- Open Seller Center and go to Seller Settings, then Commission.
- Note the rate per category you actually sell in, not the headline cluster.
- Cross check a delivered order in Finance, under My Income, then Income Statement, to see what was charged in practice.
- Update your pricing sheet with that number, then re-check after any campaign period.
Do this after every rate revision. Rate cards move, and the gap between the card and your invoice is where surprises live.
What this means for Malaysian sellers in 2026
Rates went up across every cluster, most sharply in general merchandise. The wider ranges also mean two sellers in the same cluster can sit several points apart depending on sub category. Groceries, for example, sit around 20.5%, while some mother and baby sub categories run from 13.5% up to 21%.
The practical response is not to panic about the headline, it is to know your own line. Price with your real commission, track what returns cost you, and keep the evidence that protects an order when a claim arrives later.
Every order is a small bet on the buyer behaving. The sellers who keep their margin are the ones who can settle the losing bets quickly, with proof of what they shipped, rather than arguing from memory.
Packory records the packing of every order on video, links each clip to its tracking number, and keeps the record ready when a dispute opens. Free to start, no credit card needed.
